Food, above all else, is why many of us travel. In a survey released last week, over half of globetrotters said they consider a destination’s culinary credentials before deciding where to go. 

Once retail prospects, the chance of sunshine, or sightseeing opportunities reigned supreme among reasons to travel, but the research by Booking.com says 61 per cent of us now consider gastronomy when going on holiday. And while we may have once been wary before trying foreign foods, 51 per cent will head to street food markets in search of local delights.
